Directory ranking and evidence methodology

How we review, rank and refresh evidence

Top ABA Therapy is an evidence-dated directory built by cross-referencing public records, and this page is the full account of how a fact reaches a public page. Providers cannot pay to improve an unlabeled organic position, and missing evidence never becomes a positive claim.

A directory result is evidence to investigate, not an endorsement

The methodology keeps eligibility, ordering, commercial placement, and clinical decision-making separate. A location appears here because it published something checkable, on a date we recorded. Whether it is the right fit for one child is a clinical question this directory is not equipped to answer, and it does not try to.

  • Inclusion does not prove clinical fit
  • A payer mention does not guarantee coverage
  • An availability report does not guarantee an appointment

From source to public evidence

Five visible controls keep collection, eligibility, ranking, freshness, and corrections from collapsing into one opaque score.

1

Collect and cross-reference public records

Business listings establish a location, the federal NPPES registry anchors provider identity, and each provider’s own published materials supply the service and payer evidence. Every fact records its source, observation date, and exact claim scope.

2

Separate the entities

Keep organization, location, service, payer, availability, job, and vendor facts distinct. An operator running nine sites is one organization with nine locations, and a service documented at one of them is not a claim about the other eight.

3

Apply eligibility rules

Publish only records with stable identity, useful supply, sufficient evidence, and completed review. A market with too few tracked providers gets no page at all rather than a thin one.

4

Apply organic ordering

Use documented relevance and quality inputs while excluding payment, bids, and referral fees. The inputs are a fixed allowlist rather than a discretionary score that somebody could lobby.

5

Refresh or correct

Expire volatile assertions, preserve disputes, and publish material methodology changes. An aging fact returns to unknown rather than quietly standing as current.

Organic order has a boundary

The easiest way to understand the ranking system is to compare the allowed relevance inputs with the commercial inputs that are structurally excluded.

What organic order may use

The allowlist is bounded and versioned, so the ordering can be audited rather than simply trusted.

  • Location or service relevance
  • Current eligible evidence
  • Stable identity and operational state

What organic order never uses

Commercial influence stays outside the unlabeled result order, and that boundary is the reason the order is worth reading at all.

  • Payment or advertising bids
  • Referral or lead fees
  • Pressure to suppress an accurate correction

Every claim keeps its receipt

Source scope, observation date, expiry, and change history stay attached to the evidence rather than reduced to a vague badge.

Sources and lawful use

Every source records ownership, license or terms, retrieval method, permitted uses, observation date, and review state. That receipt is what lets a disputed fact be traced back to where it came from.

Freshness and expiry

Volatile assertions expire. Aging and unknown states stay visible and cannot silently become positive, because availability and payer information move faster than any directory can follow.

Version changes

Schema, index, and methodology versions retain reproducible tests, change notes, and rollback artifacts. A ranking change that cannot be reproduced is a change we cannot defend.

Who delivers ABA therapy

Applied behavior analysis is delivered by a team, and in this directory it is almost always sought for autistic children following an autism evaluation. A Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) usually designs and supervises the program, while a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) or a BCaBA delivers most of the direct sessions under that supervision. A functional behavior assessment normally comes first, and the treatment plan that follows should name its goals, its methods, and how progress gets measured.

This directory records what a provider publishes about its services. It does not verify who staffs a given case, how many supervision hours that case receives, or whether parent and caregiver training is built into the weekly schedule. Those are questions for the provider, and every profile page carries them so you can ask in order.

How commercial relationships are separated

Paid visibility is labeled and physically separated

A commercial module may exist, but it cannot masquerade as an unlabeled organic result. If a placement is paid, the label appears before you act on it rather than in a footnote afterwards.

  • Sponsored status appears before an action
  • Payment does not alter organic provider or job order
  • Commercial disputes use the correction process
Organic directory Non-payment inputs only
Sponsored placement Paid and visibly labeled
Corrections Evidence reviewed independently

Important limitations

Directory evidence is informational and can change. Inclusion is not clinical endorsement. Insurance assertions do not guarantee coverage, and availability reports do not guarantee an appointment or fit.

Where a detail has never been recorded, the page says unknown rather than converting silence into a yes or a no. If something here disagrees with what a provider tells you, the provider is right, and the contact route exists for exactly that reason.

What each trust label means

How to read any trust signal

Use the same three checks everywhere in the directory, whether the claim concerns identity, services, credentials, freshness, or sponsorship.

1

Check the scope

Confirm whether the label applies to an organization, location, credential, service, payer assertion, or commercial relationship. A badge on the organization says nothing about the specific site you would actually visit.

2

Read the evidence date

A current identity check does not refresh unrelated service, insurance, or availability claims. Each assertion carries its own clock, and they run at different speeds.

3

Read the limitation

Every signal states what was not checked, so a narrow fact cannot quietly widen into a broad endorsement while nobody is looking.

The trust-label dictionary

Each label keeps one narrow meaning so users can compare like with like without turning incomplete evidence into certainty.

Claimed

An authorized account is linked to the organization. It means someone with standing has taken responsibility for the listing; it does not prove every public field on it is current.

Identity checked

Organization identity evidence was reviewed under the identity policy. It confirms the entity is who it says it is, and it is not a clinical endorsement of the care delivered.

Credential checked

A specific credential and jurisdiction were checked through a named source. A BCBA credential confirmed in one state proves that certification, not availability, fit, or who will run a particular case.

Information refreshed

Defined core fields were reviewed recently. Other assertions keep their own dates, so a refreshed profile can still contain an older payer or availability claim.

Sponsored

A commercial relationship exists and is separated from unlabeled organic ranking. The label appears before you act on the placement rather than after.

Unknown or expired

No current eligible evidence supports either a positive or negative assertion. Unknown is a real state here, and it is never rewritten into a yes or a no to make a page look more complete.

What a credential actually tells you

A Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) holds a graduate-level certification and normally designs and supervises an ABA program. A Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) works under that supervision and delivers most of the direct sessions, and a BCaBA sits between the two. Those are the credentials this directory can check against a named source.

What a credential check cannot tell you is which of those people will work with your family, how often a Board Certified Behavior Analyst reviews the case, or whether a functional behavior assessment precedes the treatment plan. Those answers come from the provider, and the questions are on every profile page for that reason.

What an evidence receipt should show

The label is only the first line

An evidence receipt should make a trust signal inspectable without forcing anyone to decode internal policy language. If a label cannot survive being questioned, it should not be on the page.

  • Scope identifies the exact entity or field
  • Source type and review date remain visible
  • Expiry and correction routes stay close to the claim
Example label Identity checked
Applies to Organization identity
Evidence display Source category and review date
Does not mean Clinical endorsement or current availability

See an incorrect label?

Corrections preserve source and audit history. Revoked, expired, and disputed evidence changes public presentation without erasing the record, so a challenge is traceable long after it is resolved.
